| The following is an account of our trip to Europe in December of 2002 and into January of 2003. The first few days were spent apart in Bonn and Oslo, on the 23rd Ruby journeyed to Norway from Bonn with my sister Beth. We stayed with Kjell and Mette Asak in Leirsund, Norway until the 27th of December. After a brief return to Bonn we (Ruby, Beth, John and myself) traveled to Paris and spent 4 days there before returning to Houston on the second (me) and third (Ruby) of January. |
The reason for the trip was to accomplish the following: take a break from work and get away from it all, visit with Beth who had been studying in Germany for the past 4 months, practice Norwegian and get reaquainted with our wonderful Norwegian relatives, enjoy Paris on New Year's eve and most importantly to spend time with eachother (Ruby and I). Some of the most memorable moments / events of the trip were: the generosity of the Asak family, eating real Norwegian food, 20+ hour train trips, meeting Beth's boyfriend John, New Year's Eve on the Champs Eleseey, booking a 3 star hotel for Ruby and I in honor of our first wedding anniversary, Ruby's fiesty New York attitude toward rude Parrisians, visiting Frogner / Vigelands Park, being reunited in Houston after separate flights home. |
